It’s enough to make even the most stiff-upper-lipped BBC presenter turn all gushy and reach for the dictionary of dire puns to find a suitably cringe-inducing canine quip… yes, it’s Sam the surfing dog – and he’s proving to be quite a media darling already.
No longer the preserve of the YouTube generation, zany animal videos are hitting the mainstream media and people can’t seem to get enough of them. If you haven’t seen Sam yet, watch him (together with his sporting rival the wave-riding cat) below.
Here on the homepage such videos cause a certain degree of debate: we know people enjoy watching them, but does that mean we should display them with prominence? Let us know your comments below.
In the meantime, I’ve discovered today’s news has gone a little animal crazy. Earlier this morning we ran video features on the self-inflating fish and the bizarre two-ton fish, then we heard about surfing Sam – and now Milly, the tiny British pup hoping to lay claim to the world’s cutest dog title, has become one of today’s most popular stories on the MSN UK homepage.
But Sam should watch out, I’ve since discovered that hot on his heels comes the surfing duck – another video rapidly doing the rounds.
Of course we’ve had enough board-bound pets for one day, right?
Oh, all right, then…
